Western Student and Resident Medical Research Forum
The Western Student and Resident Medical Research Forum (WSMRF) is pleased to announce the Western Medical Research Conference (formerly Western Regional Meeting), held annually at the end of January in Carmel, CA. The 2019 Meeting will be held January 24-26, 2019.
Abstract submissions are due Friday, September 28, 2018, by 11:59PM Pacific time.
In recent years, WSMRF has evolved to become the largest faculty mentored student and resident research meeting in the U.S., with over 450 abstracts presented by students, residents, and faculty each year. We have developed full partnerships with several prominent medical research societies including the Western Section of the American Federation for Medical Research (AFMR), Western Society for Clinical Investigation (WSCI), Western Association of Physicians (WAP), and the Western Society for Pediatric Research (WSPR). Student and resident presenters are fully integrated into sub-specialty sessions moderated by faculty from academic medical centers in the western region. All accepted student and resident abstracts are published in The Journal of Investigative Medicine.
Student and resident-focused activities in 2019 include the Welcome Reception and Poster Session, breakout sessions including "How to choose a residency with a research focus" and "Ask the Chiefs Q&A", and the WSMRF student and resident mixer. All attendees for the Western Medical Research Conference are welcome and encouraged to attend. Students and residents are also required to attend the annual Plenary Session, which showcases nationally recognized speakers presenting their latest research as well as the annual Junior Faculty Research Award winners. Shuttles will be available from the Sunset Center for all attendees and presenters.
The 2019 Western Medical Research Conference is an excellent venue for students and residents to showcase research from their institutions. Students and residents gain valuable experience as participants and presenters in a vibrant setting focused on mentoring young research careers.
