Become a Student Liaison

APPLY TO BECOME THE WSMRF STUDENT LIAISON OF YOUR SCHOOL
 
On behalf of the Council of Student Representatives of the Western Student Medical Research Forum (WSMRF) conference in Carmel, CA, we would like to invite those interested to apply to become your school’s Student Liaison.
 
Student Liaisons act as advocates for fellow students at their school, become more involved in the world of academic medicine, network with researchers from all over the Western U.S., and gain valuable leadership experience. One student from each institution will be selected to represent their school at this year’s conference and duties will continue through the next year to WSMRF 2020. What is WSMRF?
-Western Student Medical Research Forum: An academic research conference where students, residents, fellows, and attendings from all over the Western U.S. meet to present their latest research and network. Over 400 individuals will be attending this year’s conference, including over 200 medical students.
 
Why be a Student Liaison?
-Gain inter-institutional leadership experience.
-Serve your fellow students.
-Gain valuable insight into the world of academic medicine.
-Work with fellow students from all over the western U.S.
-Work under the mentorship of faculty from all over the western U.S.
 
What are the responsibilities?
-Act as the bridge between your school and the conference leadership.
-Work closely with faculty at your institution to increase participation/attendance from your school.
-Represent the needs and desires of your student body to the conference.
-Work with fellow student representatives to develop initiatives to improve the content of the conference.
-Time Commitment: Depends on the time of year. (Feb-Aug: 1-2hrs every other week. | Sept-January: 1-2hrs per week.)
 
Who is eligible?
-Must attend and present at WSMRF 2020.
-Must be enrolled in a medical school.
-Preferable interest in academic medicine.
 
How to apply:
- Please attend the WSMRF Student Representative Breakfast at Carmel Mission Inn, Friday morning (7am) on (Date TBA)
